The round bubble blanket is the simplest way to keep heat in an outdoor pool: light, easy to handle and cut to the exact shape of your pool. It floats on the water, lets the sun in through its 12 mm bubbles and holds that warmth under a layer of trapped air. You pay per square metre, and we measure before anything is ordered.

A bubble blanket made from low density polyethylene with an anti-UV treatment, using the classic 12 mm round bubble. It is the lightest and most budget-friendly blanket in our thermal range, and it comes in 400 or 500 micron thickness.
It suits outdoor pools that get plenty of sun, heated pools that lose warmth overnight, and owners who want a cover they can pull on and off without a struggle. Paired with a reel, covering and uncovering the pool takes very little time.
Sunlight passes through the bubbles and warms the water, while the air inside them acts as insulation and slows the loss of that heat. The manufacturer gives a gain of 2 to 4 °C in water temperature.
With the surface covered, evaporation drops by up to 98%. On the Costa Blanca, where summer sun and wind take water out of an open pool every day, that means fewer top-ups, and every top-up of fresh water is one less thing to rebalance. A good share of leaves, dust and debris also stays on the blanket instead of in the water.
Two finishes are available. Blue is the practical choice for regular use on a controlled budget. Sun Energy transparent blue, at 500 microns, is aimed at maximum solar gain, so more of the sun's warmth reaches the water.
The blanket can be finished with perimeter reinforcement or side trim, edges prepared for a reel, and cut-outs for ladders, handrails and other pool fittings. It carries a one year warranty.
We come to your pool with our installation partner and take the measurements ourselves. The price on this page is a guide based on the square metre rate; we confirm the final figure once the pool is measured, adding the 3 cm per side that the fixings need. Because the material is flexible, the finished size can differ by up to 3 cm.
The blanket is then made to that measurement and our partner fits it. The measuring visit is photographed, timestamped and logged in VisitPro like every Leo Pools visit, so you can check it from wherever you are.
